Gilman Alumni Share Career Advice, Networking Opportunities

For the past few summers, we have convened Gilman alumni for breakfast in Baltimore and New York to discuss career paths, networking connections, and job and internship opportunities. However, the unusual times that we are experiencing forced us to reimagine what these events look like. So, instead of bringing large groups together in person, we organized three separate Zoom sessions to focus on specific facets of the finance industry - investment banking, private equity and venture capital, and wealth management - in which young alumni had the opportunity to meet and pick the brains of seasoned professionals in areas of professional interest. To make these events more personal and to foster more meaningful conversation, we limited participation to six young alumni and two alumni panelists. Each session was filled to "capacity," and great career advice was shared. Thanks to John Avirett '01, Matt Bressler '05, Peter Dischinger '03, Yale Hoffberg '11, Matt Novak '01, and Matt Salsbury '01 for sharing their time and expertise with these younger Hounds.
