50th Reunion (Class of 1972)

Celebrating 50 Years

The Class of 1972 Remembers

In 1972, President Richard Nixon ordered the development of a Space Shuttle program; Bob Douglas became the first African American elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame; sales of the Volkswagen Beetle exceeded those of the Ford Model-T; the United States Congress sent the Equal Rights Amendment to the states for ratification; Apollo 16, commanded by astronaut John Young, landed on the moon; the fast food restaurant chain Popeyes was founded in Louisiana; in Reykjavík, Iceland, American Bobby Fischer beats Russian Boris Spassky to become the World Chess Championship; HBO launched its programming with the broadcast of the movie 'Sometimes a Great Notion" starring Paul Newman and Henry Fonda; and on Roland Avenue, the great Gilman Class of 1972 walked across the graduation stage!

The Gilman News

Your Support Makes a Difference

We remain grateful to the many alumni who continue to support Gilman during this unpredictable time. Gifts in honor of your reunion help uphold Gilman's legacy of leadership, providing the boys following in your footsteps with the foundation needed to lead in the classroom, on the field, and in their communities. Your impact is immediate, giving students access to a dedicated faculty who lead by example every day; tuition assistance for exceptional scholars with demonstrated financial need; and innovative programs that allow the School to educate the whole boy in mind, body, and spirit.

On behalf of the students who are and will continue to be the beneficiaries of your generosity, thank you for investing in tomorrow's leaders with your gift. Give now at gilman.edu/giving or by Venmo: @GilmanSchool.
