Celebrating 60 Years
The Class of 1960 Remembers
Joanne Woodward received the first star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; President Dwight Eisenhower signed the Civil Rights Act of 1960 into law; the "Flintstones" premiered on television; the 50-star American Flag debuted; four black college students staged a sit-in at a segregated lunch counter; John F. Kennedy won the presidency; "To Kill a Mockingbird" was published; Muhammad Ali won his first professional fight; and, perhaps still vivid in your memory, Gilman School's Class of 1960 proudly crossed the stage at graduation.
Sixty years ago, in the presence of beloved teacher-coaches and the friends who had become family, you took innumerable lessons learned, humility, honor, integrity, respect, and excellence with you across the stage and into the great wide world. Please enjoy this walk down memory lane — a chance to revisit the Cynosure, news, and photographic memories from the year you graduated — in anticipation of your reunion celebration in October.
Be sure to check your email for information about your class' virtual reunion this weekend!

We look forward to seeing you this fall!
During these uncertain times, Gilman continues to strive to strengthen the mind, body, and spirit of its students...and of its alumni. Now more than ever, we look to celebrate what connects us, what inspires us, and what lifts us up.
We hope that this trip down memory lane, a chance to write about an encounter with a classmate, a story of a fellow Greyhound giving back to the community, and seeing reminders that Gilman continues to be Gilman, offer an uplifting break in your day.
