60th Reunion (Class of 1961)

Celebrating 60 Years

The Class of 1961 Remembers

In 1961, the Berlin Wall was built, forcibly dividing East and West Germany; Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin completed the first orbit of Earth by a human; John F. Kennedy was inaugurated as the 35th President of the United States; American-backed Cuban exiles failed in an attempt to invade Cuba at the Bay of Pigs; the Peace Corps was established and Freedom Riders traveled by bus throughout the South to promote integration measures; Frito corn chips were introduced; Barbie got a boyfriend with the introduction of the "Ken" doll; and, most importantly, the Gilman Class of 1961 walked across the graduation stage that spring.

Your Support Makes a Difference

We are grateful for the many alumni who continue to support Gilman, especially as needs mount during the lingering pandemic and shifting economic landscape. Gifts in honor of your reunion are making a meaningful difference, better positioning the School to ensure that each boy continues to have access to the same Gilman education that allowed you to grow in mind, body, and spirit. It's not too late to make a difference. Click here to give back, allowing a young man to follow in your footsteps or Venmo: @GilmanSchool

2021 Class Notes

During these uncertain times, Gilman continues to strive to strengthen the mind, body, and spirit of its students...and of its alumni. Now more than ever, we are excited to celebrate what inspires and connects us. We hope that you enjoyed this trip down memory lane and, despite the pandemic-driven social distancing and travel restrictions, are still able to share with us a story of an encounter with a classmate.
