This partnership has brought students from BMPCS to Gilman’s campus every Wednesday afternoon for a math lesson with Thompson followed by one-on-one tutoring sessions with Upper School students. Their time at Gilman is not limited to classroom learning; the students also have access to other resources on campus as well.
Service. Partnership. Community.
We are pleased to welcome back to campus many of the organizations with whom we partner to provide fun and educational summer opportunities. Additionally, many of these experiences continue throughout the school year at Gilman and in our surrounding community.
For decades, Gilman has held a strong belief that we are firmly linked to our city of Baltimore. By connecting our boys to students from different schools and by providing our campus spaces and resources to allow for enriching opportunities, we seek to break down barriers that cause conflict and lead to injustice, and we hope to equip the next generation with the tools needed to help them become involved and productive citizens.
Check back over the season as we highlight many of our partnerships.
Gilman is a founding partner in the Baltimore Community Foundation’s Middle Grades Partnership, which allows students in participating Baltimore City Public Schools and area independent schools the opportunity to work together and form friendships over three consecutive summers.
The 2022 NFL schedule was released last Thursday, which reminds us of our Greyhounds who have gone on to play for the NFL. Some of these individuals are not only professionals on the field, but they have worked equally as hard (if not harder!) off the field to have community impact.
“For nearly a decade, the Next One Up program struggled to find a stable home. Gilman welcomed us in and has allowed our program to thrive with fields, classrooms, and spaces for us to carry out our mission,” said Next One Up founder Matt Hanna. “Gilman has given us the space for our young men to learn and grow in a stable environment. Thanks for welcoming us in, it has made such a difference.”
Bridges seeks to ensure that all students who enter the program have the support and guidance necessary to become the young leaders our society needs. Gilman opened its own Bridges site in 2014 and now serves 36 public school students in fourth through sixth grades.
